Do Not Judge Yourself by Your Cover.

Sounds simple, right? It is easy to reflect on the outside of ourselves: see all the wounds, years of stress and weight. Yet behind that beaten exterior is the soul of a person who KeepCalm53is pure and strong. We sometimes look outward because we are afraid to harness the strength and power that is within. Sometimes that power reveals a side of us that is fearless and mighty; sometimes our inner spirit contradicts the steely or even shy exterior that we have developed over the years.

You may have a look of a solider on the outside but deep down you are fragile and the beauty of that is: there is a balance. You should embody both. It is amazing how sometimes we feel that we need permission to do or feel certain things. Like society or perhaps your our perceptions place limitations on our skills and abilities. No one said you couldn’t do this or that but somehow you have managed to “cap” yourself. Why? Why do we do that? What is even more fascinating is when the universe pushes against the grain and shows you what you have been hiding from: your own potential. We are not limited to the constraints that the world holds us under: we are not just emotional creatures or selfish beings, we are human. We are capable of growth and discovery. Just because we get older does not mean we stop progressing.

As I do not encourage extraneous vanity, I honestly have my days that I just take a long look in the mirror. What is being seen of you in this world? What do you see of yourself? Most importantly, how do you feel about it? There is a saying: if you don’t like something about yourself, change it.

Try this: accept yourself and then adjust yourself, if necessary.

Create On: Hope On.

Hope On. KeepCalm46

As an artist, it truly affects my creative spirit to see so many people being taken away from us. I am trying my best to stay calm and at peace through this storm.

Nevertheless, I am using my social media platform to promote and declare that whatever views you may hold, be sure those views are your own. Don’t be influenced—invest in knowing the facts for yourself.

Create a sense of peace and honor around those we still have and respect for those we have lost.

Be blessed, stay in good spirits, and create on.

Attack.

Attack.

We are sometimes taught to “take the bull by the horns” or create a plan of attack—all of these aggressive approaches to life. However, have you ever thought about just taking your time? Truly assess each part, action, moment and rather than steam rolling over it, you just took your time. At times it just seems easier to just go for the jugular. Why? Because it is safe for us or makes you feel better or even puts a means to an end. DiemYet the truth is this approach may not always be the best approach. Sometimes slow and steady does win the race: gradually taking your time to reach a goal is what’s best. The only thing you should attack with vengeance is the enemy— and the enemy is whatever you allow yourself to be affected by.

Conformity.

Conformity.

I post memes like this to stir up something in ourselves: creating a conversation piece about our art and work. Why do we create? This is not just about artists, by the way. Yet why does anyone DO any job? The paths we are on right now, how much are you in control of what happens? Are you connected to your spirit?

These are questions I literally ask myself KeepCalm49when I feel as though someone or something is trying to compromise my sense of confidence as an actress. There are people who don’t understand our process or techniques and therefore want us to conform and adjust to their ways. While there is nothing wrong with learning and adjusting, you should NEVER feel like what you do is NOT enough.

It is enough and the more you explore and work on what you love to do will only sharpen your perception and expression. Sometimes you feel lost or confused: you start to question your abilities because you have somehow gotten into a runt and don’t see a clear solution. Like I have mentioned before this doesn’t have to be “art” related but just about life in general. So what do you do? I Continue reading
