What needs to be seen for you to believe in the strength of your abilities? I have spoken about facts versus faith before; however, this is about proof. Proof is the evidence of your works: the evidence that you are being led to create or that you are meant to inspire. Also, it is the confirmation that you are more than meets the eye. The proof is in the fact that you are given another day on this earth. Sometimes, we think that we have expired. Yet the truth is your heart and abilities are just as fresh and new as the day you were born.
Just because something is going sour in your life does not mean “the product” is not good. You are the product and the proof is in your actions. You cannot stay in environments that compromise your health. People scream all the time about “don’t blame me, I am a product of my environment!” However, we all know that there are products of good and bad quality. So I ask this of you: why not be a good product of your environment? Instead of using your street credibility or your upbringing for bad, Continue reading
What does it mean to be honest? Fair? Open? Upfront? One thing that I adore about the arts is the open forum provided for self-expression. You can express yourself artistically through visualizations or even using words. There is a saying: if you cannot be honest with yourself then who else can you be honest with? No need to put on a façade: embrace who you truly are.
Sometimes we try and live life as one thing or one way to fit in: go with the flow. Why? I am not saying to go rogue but literally why is there always a need to fit in? Normalcy is something deliberate and Life just happens. Be present. If there is something you do not like, then say it! If there is something that you agree with, then do it! Be upfront right then and there. If something does not sit well with you, then get up!
Don’t stay in a situation that compromises who you are as a person. Never do that; it will only lead to regret. Believe me, I know. It gets to a point that you start feeding yourself on false hopes and measures: “it will get better or it won’t always be this way.” While I believe that everything can go up, we sometimes need stronger discernment to know when it will not. Your gut or initial feelings may be incorrect, but the truth of the matter is that you went with yourself. There are consequences on both sides of this however and because of that you must consider those. It is not fair to only think of yourself, but never place yourself at 2nd place.
Take time and check in with yourself: if it calls for you to have a conversation with just you, do it! No, you are not “insane” for taking time to key in on your needs. I express this principle so much in this blog because it was that very notion that allowed me to even become a blogger. I calmed myself, looked around, and Continue reading
The Book and the Process
June 1st is finally here!
After a long two-year process, including conceptualizing, over 15 drafts, intense copy editors, 22 amazing reviewers, designers, and publishing, it is finally here! Not only does this book exemplify my spirit as an artist, it speaks on my road of perseverance and strength.
I wrote Keep Calm and Create On: Words of Encouragement from One Artist to the Next because of my experiences being an artist in a field so saturated with looks and stereotypes over talent and skill. This book is about feeding your creative spirit and balancing your artistic duality.
While the book is complete, I am still early on in my journey. So please if you have not taken the time to like and support us!

Don’t ever apologize for being yourself. Perhaps this is the third time I have mentioned this principle on the blog. Those who know you and your worth will learn to appreciate you for you: flaws and all. The things in life that challenge or hurt us were put there for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. Don’t let the bad stand in front of your blessings.
With so much going on in the world today, we must be able to be upfront and honest with each other and ourselves. I am learning that day by day in my industry of film/television with so much dramatization, you can’t seem to delineate between what is fact or fiction: real or fake. What you must do is take each day with a grain of salt and grow from it.
Challenges are not meant to break you but help you learn.
Every day we overcome our adversities. Actors and artists are real people too! I think Continue reading
