Healthy Artist, Happy Artist

Healthy Artist, Happy Artist

Here’s a little tip coming at you:KeepCalm4-web
A Healthy Artist is a Happy Artist.  Being healthy is not just a physical thing. It has so much to do with your mental state of mind. Keeping yourself at bay.

You must take care of yourself. No one else will give you the care you need like you will for yourself. Keep your mind and body in shape.

The N.O.

The N.O.

It’s okay. Everything is going to be alright. Sometimes that is all we want to hear, isn’t it? It’s not about coddling or masking the truth but it is accepting that no matter how bad things may seem, the hope of tomorrow is stronger and brighter.

We are all faced with challenges that KeepCalm48makes us question our abilities: a simple “no” could send us into a frenzy of self-doubt and anxiety. Personally, I think it is a manner of reframing your thought process. A “no” is not a never. No does not mean it is indefinite. Let a potential rejection not even register as a “rejection”. Reframe your brain that rejection equals another opportunity: something more is to come or simply this is not for you at this time.

There is an innate desire to want and get something right now. I think it’s the instant gratification mindset of this generation. Some of the best products took years to develop and create. So why rush your process? This question reminds of quote from Confucius: “it does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop.” Personal reassurance is the key. By giving yourself a pat on the back, you are providing yourself credit for trying. Trying is not failing. Trying is doing! It is an initiative.

Start a reassurance initiative for yourself. It can be artistic-related or even connected to your personal life. Anytime you find yourself going after something without a guaranteed outcome, give yourself props for trying.

How many NOs does it take to get a YES? The answer is it does not matter.
N.O. means the ‘next option’

Supporting Others.

Supporting Others.

I want to speak on how the soul KeepCalm47benefits more from giving rather than receiving. I have had the honor and pleasure to be in the midst of some of the most realest, honest people who happen to be artists as well.  I thank God every day for the people that come into my life— even if they are only there for a season or not. They are/were there for a reason. I have spent more time listening than I have in the longest and I must say I feel so full. Like completely satisfied because I was able to be present. Granted, just because someone confides in you doesn’t mean you have to be there only when things are bad. Sometimes it can be for a good cause.

Not everything is about competition. Sometimes people are put in our lives to make us stronger and better.  We have to start being there for one another. We are not meant to live and be a part of this world alone— develop those relationships.

Surround yourself with like-minded people.

Crowded.

Crowded.

Don’t ever apologize for being yourself. Perhaps this is the third time I have mentioned this principle on the blog. Those who know you and your worth will learn to appreciate you for you: KeepCalm46flaws and all. The things in life that challenge or hurt us were put there for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. Don’t let the bad stand in front of your blessings.

With so much going on in the world today, we must be able to be upfront and honest with each other and ourselves. I am learning that day by day in my industry of film/television with so much dramatization, you can’t seem to delineate between what is fact or fiction: real or fake. What you must do is take each day with a grain of salt and grow from it.

Challenges are not meant to break you but help you learn.

Every day we overcome our adversities. Actors and artists are real people too! I think Continue reading
